Frontier has multiple meanings:

• 边疆 (biānjiāng) - Geographic/political frontier, describes distant border regions of a country.
• 边界 (biānjiè) - Includes physical, metaphorical, and philosophical boundaries or borders.
• 前沿 (qiányán) - Leading edge/forefront of knowledge.
• 边境 (biānjìng) - Border area/borderland between countries.
